Moving to Clarkland - Part 2
Before I get to the main subject of this column, there are a few erroneous assumptions made about General Clark that I would like to set straight. As I’ve lurked through the boards at Democratic Underground and Free Republic, and many of the blogs out there in cyber land, many of the same assertions keep cropping up. No doubt, if General Clark decides to run, these will be the first fists of mud to be thrown. So then,
Pristina Airport: He did not order General Sir Michael Jackson to “…start World War III,” or otherwise engage the Russian forces. He told Jackson to block the runways so the Russian planes couldn’t land.
Chinese Embassy bombing: yes, NATO forces bombed it. A tragic mistake due to a miss-marked target. Accidents happen in wartime.
